                 ORGANIZATION AND CHAMPUS HISTORY

Texas County Technical Institute (TCTI) began classes on October 21, 1996, in a small rented office with a couple of classrooms. Texas County residents began to realize the value of higher education and enrollment increased. Many of the TCTI students had jobs before enrolling. They were looking to advance their skills to build a better future and to further or change their careers. In 2000, TCTI was awarded a state grant and now occupies its own facilities located on South US 63 in Houston, Missouri. Due to the increased demand in the medical field, TCTI added the Practical Nursing program in 2000 and a Paramedic program in 2003. Texas County Technical Institute is having a substantial impact on Houston and the surrounding areas.

Due to the population growth in the community of Bolivar, Missouri, key leaders became aware of the need for individuals qualified for employment in the technical and nursing/health care fields. They requested that TCTI consider opening a branch campus in their community. Bolivar Technical College received authorization from the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to open a branch campus in May, 2005.
