Accelerated LPN to RN
Academic Associate of Science Degree in Nursing
The Accelerated LPN to RN program is designed for Missouri Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who want to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse. The program consists of 61 credit hours (17 credits of prerequisites, 44 credits throughout the program). Graduates are eligible to apply to take the NCLEX-RN licensure examination, and upon successful completion of the NCLEX-RN and with approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing, become a Licensed Registered Nurse. Successful completion of the Accelerated LPN to RN program does not guarantee licensure (see section 335.066 RSMO).
Program Length: 3 semesters / 48 weeks
Program start date: We take new students for this program every summer semester. We begin accepting applications for this program one year in advance.

Requirements: Undisciplined Missouri LPN license
Prerequisites: Anatomy & Physiology – 8 credit hours minimum, English Composition – 3 credit hours, Human Nutrition – 3 credit hours, Introduction to Psychology – 3 credit hours
We require official post-secondary transcript(s) showing completion of prerequisite courses and any courses for possible transfer before the Accelerated LPN to RN program begins.
Prerequisites for the Accelerated LPN to RN program:
• Anatomy & Physiology with lab 8 credit hours minimum
• English Composition 3 credit hours
• Human Nutrition 3 credit hours
• Intro to Psychology 3 credit hours
General education courses in the program:
• Fundamentals of Chemistry 4 credit hours
• Microbiology 4 credit hours
Official transcripts showing completion of ALL prerequisites and possible transfer courses MUST be submitted to the Registrar for evaluation NO LATER than April 28, 2017.
The general education courses listed above are available through TCTC in the fall 2016 and spring 2017. Courses taken through TCTC will meet the April 28, 2017, deadline mentioned above.
Candidates may take the general education/prerequisites courses through another approved college for possible transfer. However, candidates choosing to complete those courses at another college are urged to contact the TCTC office prior to registering for the classes. (Some of the courses at other colleges do not end before the April 28, 2017 deadline and will not be considered for transfer.)
